Plum Island
lose yourself
The pristine natural setting is a soothing backdrop to the luxurious blue experience. During your stay, you will enjoy the beauty and solitude of Plum Island – a barrier island off the northern coast of Massachusetts named for its hundreds of beach plum bushes. Eight miles long and approximately one-quarter mile wide, the island has some of the finest beaches in the Northeast. Our sandy beach is the perfect setting for relaxing to the sound of waves caressing the sand or soaking in the sun on your own private deck.
Plum Island is home to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses six miles of the island and 4,600 acres of natural beaches, salt marshes and meadows. The refuge is home to deer, fox, beaver and 350 species of birds. Boardwalks throughout the Refuge meander through the dunes and out onto the beach – great for hiking, sightseeing, birdwatching or just unwinding. The island side faces spectacular tidal marshes with breathtaking sunset views and a continually changing population of bird life. The nearby Massachusetts Audubon Joppa Flats Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary provides visitors with plenty of viewing areas to observe birds and wildlife along the Plum Island estuary.
